Field Hockey Nova Scotia Annual General Meeting

Field Hockey Nova Scotia will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Sunday May 29th, 2016 beginning at 8:30pm.  This year’s AGM will be held at Bubba Rays, Spring Garden Rd. location.  All FHNS members are entitled to a vote and are encouraged to attend the AGM.  If you cannot attend and would like to give your vote to another member please fill out the attached proxy form to be brought to the AGM.

The AGM package and financial statements will be available in the coming weeks before the AGM on the FHNS website.

Oxford Junior High Crowned Nancy Tokaryk Memorial Girls Tournament Champions

The Nancy Tokaryk Memorial Field Hockey Tournaments for Junior High girls was held at Armbrae Academy on April 22-23.  This year's tournament saw Oxford Junior High and Eric Graves Junior High play in the championship game.  Following regulation the tie was 2-2 and Oxford needed a shoot out to solidify the championship.  The individual awards for the tournament were as follows: Top Defensive Player: Andrea Zhu - Armbrae, Top Scorer:  Storme McNeil - Oxford, Top Goalie: Madison Manuel - Eric Graves and MVP: Chloe Arnold - Eric Graves.

Citadel Wins Metro High School Girls Field Hockey Tournament

The Citadel High School girls team recently captured the 2016 Metro High School Girls Indoor Field Hockey Tournament that was hosted at Citadel High School on April 15-17, 2016.  Citadel defeated Sackville High 6-1 in the championship game with Hayley Glazebrook (Citadel) and Erin Ryan (Sackville) being named players of the game for their respected teams. Beavers FHC Win Nova Scotia Indoor Field Hockey League

The 2016 Nova Scotia Indoor Field Hockey League playoffs were held April 16 at Citadel High School in Halifax.  In an extremely competitive day, the Beavers were crowned champions with the Privateers claiming second place.  The semi-finals saw an extremely contested match between the Privateers and Sharks with the Privateers winning in sudden death strokes.  Thanks to all who played, officiated and came to watch this great event and see you next year!  Full playoff results can be seen here: Indoor League Season Review

FHC Looking for Officials

Field Hockey Canada is seeking applications from officials interested being a part of the officiating crew (umpires and technical) for the 2016 Under 16 Boys’ and Girls’ and Under 18 Women’s National Championships.

Qualified individuals are encouraged to apply here. The deadline for applications is April 8, 2016. Appointments will be made mid-May.

The 2016 Field Hockey Canada National Championships will be held as follows:

  • Under 16 Boys’ and Girls’ National Championships: July 19-24, 2016 in Calgary, Alberta
  • Under 18 Women’s National Championships: July 27-31, 2016 in Toronto, Ontario
